Saint Seraphim of Sarov Eastern Orthodox Church

Our Outreach Ministries Food Pantry

RETURN TO OUR HOME PAGE

The congregation of Saint Seraphim's is dedicated to living a full Christian Life. We remember the words of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 25:32-46, where we are instructed to give food and drink, clothe, and minister to others. To this end we have established a food pantry and have the policy to give to all those who ask. Currently, we are feeding about 16 families regularly. Unfortunately, we do not have large enough space to accommodate feeding more families.

We have learned that there is much food available for a small cost through State and Government programs, and feel that there should be no reason for anyone to go hungry because of unavailability of food, at least in the United States. What seems to be lacking is knowledge of these programs, and the desire to give the time to distribute this food.

If you would like to help us feed the hungry, we need physical help as well as funds. We distribute food on the second Saturday of each month. We meet at the Church at 10:00 AM. We have the groceries packed up and ready to distribute at 12:00 Noon to our regular families.

We need your help!

If you would like to contribute funds to be used for purchasing food and supplies for the Food Pantry - send us a check made out to St. Seraphim of Sarov Eastern Orthodox Church - mark the check: For the Food Pantry. Send it to: St. Seraphim of Sarov - PO BOX 77342 - Greensboro, NC 27417-7342. The check will be your receipt, and will be stamped with our Non-Profit Organization number. Thank you for helping us to help others!

The prayer we say before we deliver the food to our Food Pantry families:

By: Father Michael

Almighty Lord, by Your Holy words in the Scriptures, You asked us to care for the poor and needy. Look down upon us this day as we endeavor to fulfill Your Holy Will. Guide our steps that we may walk closely behind You. Bless our efforts that they may bear good fruit and may comfort and assist those whom we serve. Fill our hearts with Your love so that we may reach out to our community and do whatever we can to relieve hunger. As you have blessed us so well, let us bless others from humble and contrite hearts. Remember those whom we serve, protect them, guide them, and heal them from every infirmity. In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.   Amen.
